When I decided to begin my own program of breeding mini pigs, I had a hard time finding an experienced breeder to mentor me.  It was frustrating that they weren’t willing to share their knowledge with someone devoted to mini pigs.  (You can listen to my experience with mini pigs in this episode of The Pet Pig Podcast.)

Today, as one of the most ethical breeders in the US, I am happy to share my knowledge and experience with those looking for guidance.  This, mixed with the fact that there are far too many bad breeders out there has fueled in me a desire to step up and provide this education and support.  Thus, was born my Breeder Mentorship Program.

What Makes a Good Mini Pig Breeder?

With all the mini pig breeders in the US, why do we need more?  Well, the answer is simple.  We don’t just need more mini pig breeders; we need excellent ones.  We need breeders that care for their pigs and piglets MORE than they care for their bank accounts.  Excellent, ethical breeders put the health and management of their herd above all else.

How can those interested in breeding mini pigs get the education they need to be successful?  Simply by learning from those who have paved the way.  I think that this is the kind and reasonable thing to do.  It’s also much easier than taking the time to figure it out on their own – which is what I and many others had to do.  Good breeders can make good breeders by guiding and supporting them.

Breeder Mentorship Program

I set up my program like a course.  It guides you though the process of choosing your breeding animals, the farrowing process, caring for piglets and finding them great homes.  It also gives suggestions for website details and social media account management.

Anyone is able to purchase my program and use it as a base for their individual breeding programs.  For those who want more of a mentorlike relationship with me, there is an option for that.  This will require all to withhold my very high standards.  But with that comes many benefits!

The biggest and best benefit of keeping my high standards is that they will be included on my website as an Autumn Acres Approved Breeder!  This is HUGE because the hardest part with anything is getting started and getting your name out there.  This way, I will give them a big boost.
